Flashing question marks

Arduino Mega, RAMPS 1.4, REPRAP DISCOUNT SMART CONTROLLER.
How do I remove the flashing question marks from the information screen in place of the XYZ coordinates? What settings do I need to change in the firmware?

sincerely. thanks

The flashing question marks tell you the machine has not been homed and therefore the machine does not really know where it is relative to the bed of the machine. If you home your machine (requires endstops) the question marks will go away.

Most jobs are done by setting an origin relative to the stock using a G92 in machine workspace. When you do that, the machine no longer knows its position in machine space, and the question marks come back.

I’m not aware of any settings in Marlin that will remove this feature.

Thanks for the reply. They don’t seem to interfere, but they annoy :frowning_face:

It turns out you can turn the blinking off. I found this in configuration.h:

// Turn off the display blinking that warns about possible accuracy reduction
//#define DISABLE_REDUCED_ACCURACY_WARNING

So you would need to uncomment the define, recompile, and reflash your board.

shuffles quietly out from the shadows in slippers, sunglasses, and a trenchcoat

looks around furtively

opens his mouth to say something, and is promptly tackled by several strapping young lads of indeterminate lineage who quickly restrain him, and escort him out of the forum

from the distance: “Því miður, rangur vettvangur.”

Poetic, but out of place. :x:
