Cutting board epoxy inlay

I’ve been reading a few forums about inlays on here, had a wedding coming up that I needed to make a present for, and had enough time to experiment.

Bought a end grain cutting board from home Depot, milled a juice groove using a 1/8" ball mill, and then v carved the name. Vaguely remembered a YouTube video about offsetting the height to get good inlays so just went for it.

The inlay didn’t fit AT ALL so I found the proper video

And tried again. My only v-bit broke about halfway through the operation so it became the perfect opportunity to try epoxy pouring for the first time lol

I was trying to intentionally under pour so it would have that high gloss but that didn’t work so I sanded to 3000 grit. There’s also bubbles despite using a vacuum for ten minutes. Looks pretty decent under anything but direct light. Oh well, mistakes prove it was made by hand and with love. Happy enough with it and experience for next time.
