Cramer’s MP3DP

Will these Nema17’s work for my Z Axis? I had these laying around. Might as well use them if I can.

yes

Awesome! I just ordered the other two from the V1 Engineering Shop.

What are your thoughts on the dualmk8 extruder? I’d like to bring my 3d printing frustration up to a new level…

Link to mk8dual extruder.

My opinion would be to go bowden if you want to do dual, but do it through a single nozzle. See Me CNC and Prusa Research have the mixing bowden attachment, probably the usual places as well.

So I’m just messing around with this X5 Mini on my MP3DP. I have the Z axis pins set to 1/32 stepping and 5120 steps per unit. (M92 Z5120.00) When I try to move it 1 mm, it’s actually moving 5 mm. I’m not sure what I’m missing.

I don’t know what an X5 mini is, but that is a ton of steps. Are you using a regular T8 leadscrew? It should be like 400, 800, or 1600 steps. I think 800 for 1/32nds.

800 steps seems to be the magic number.

Would this work with the MP3DP?

Original Prusa i3 MK3 Multi Material 2.0 upgrade kit

It prints up to 5 filaments at a time.

I don’t see why not. I believe all the code is in Marlin now, you just have to make sure your board has enough pinouts. There is also the Pallet system, which has one feature I really want. The ability to use up old rolls. when one runs out it will auto feed/start the next roll. The easiest way is two color through a bowden though.

The trouble for most with muti-color I believe is model building.

Chicken and egg problem… If everyone had MM printers, the files would be everywhere. It’s hard to justify the work if you’re making something functional though.

I didn’t realize Marlin supported it. Still, I would expect some integration pains, but if you’re good at problem solving, I don’t see anything that would stop you.

I remember when the Palette system came out. Hard to justify $800… I could have 1 or 2 more 3d Printers for that price.

From what I saw on the Prusa upgrade kit it will jump to the next roll when it runs out. Looks like its not readily available though.

Are you applying the PEI sheet directly to the heated bed? I’m thinking about ordering 4mm Borosilicate Glass size 219mm x 219mm and the PEI sheet. Would these work?

Pei is usually sold with a sheet of double sided sticky stuff from 3M. With that, you can adhere it to either surface. If you have an aluminum heat bed, you don’t need the glass, but some people think it helps because it’s flatter and you can take it off. The glass also adds a barrier for heat between the heater and the pei, but I’m not sure how much it matters. You’ll probably destroy the pei before getting it off, so if you’re going to try both, you’d need two.

I should have said when I ordered my last graphics display it was for my MP3DP. I think I have the firmware loaded and fixed this line for the display:

#define

REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER

My display doesn’t have anything on it, but shows a blue screen but no text.

When I connect to the Mini Rambo I get: Error:Printer halted. kill() called!

It’s probably just wired wrong there are many ways to write it and they are all harmless, but only one way works.

The screen doesn’t have any firmware you can change.

Why is your controller running 1.1.5? Not your root problem but that’s a bit old now.

The display was working prior to me messing with firmware.

Can you point me to the right firmware?

It is on github, you need to use the drop down to select the correct one.

I see the highlighted drop down now. Thanks!

Sorry for not giving you a direct link. Busy days and family in town, trying to glance at the phone to get in the emails as often as possible.
