CNC tape

I’ve used carpet tape, worked but $ added up.
Diy double sided tape, worked better but time added up, and tape is getting pricey.
Clamps work well as long as your not doing a cutout.

This is my go to now for anything i can leave a tab or 2 in. Pins are fast and cheap.

I use the gel tape quite a bit I get it from the dollar store. It’s thick tho so you have to pay attention and it can also give you depth inconsistencies if you using say a bevel bit.
Here is some of me using it on some Eva foam. This was a bit of a task as the original backing was too slippery for tape to stick so I had to transfer that off and put a paper backing on. Some of the clamps ppl have are very cool as well I really need to look at adding those in.

Wait, what is that plywood. Are the back layers black?? That is cool!
Awesome design too.

It’s Eva marine foam flooring. 2mm grey ontop and 3mm black under. It comes in a lot of sizes. I am hopefully about to try doing some peanut butter brown and black in a couple mins. And thanks it’s a design I did.

Bits, feeds, and speeds?

It was a cheap 1/4” router v bit. That worked best for me. And my router was set at 5 and iirc I think it was about 14mm/s. A finishing pass is really what makes it nice. A couple spots I used a soldering iron. That was mostly for my pocketing as I had a tram issue.
I am doing more on Monday and I will post it and take note of feeds and speed.

What are you running your step over at? I am sure in that material it can handle a lot, but backing that off will probably get you a much cleaner finish, even more so with tram issues.

I am not too sure, I would have to look back again. Thanks for input makes sense I should have had it tighter. It kinda was nice on the feet tho for some grip. Next time I do it I will tune it in a bit better.
