I have done a couple hundred jobs on this machine, but this is the first time a restart hasn’t fixed, what I think is a software issue.
Whenever I attempt to home the machine, the Z axis homes first. As soon as it hits the endstop, the machine freezes. It doesnt back off, then rehome, it just stops. I pulled the power and tried again about 5 times, same result. I tried to home just the X,Y, or Z axes individually, but the result is the same, it gets to the endstop, then the software just freezes. I’m afraid to try to start the cut, as I feel homing should be successful first. Has anyone met this issue/ fixed it before?
That means the X endstop and Probe are both triggered. If you hold down any of the other endstops they should show up as well.
Looking at the pics you posted, you were in alarm state before the home Z command was given. I am surprised it moved up at all.
Try this:
Type ! and hit enter. That will get you out of the $limits
See if you are in idle state or alarm. If alarm then type $X
that will clear the alarm state. Then as long as you are now in idle state, try homing and see what happens. If it freezes again show us the screen again.
Thank you so much! the probe was dangling off the side, and I guess the leads were tapping when the homing was running. I havent had this happen before, but once I separated the 2 probe leads, the issue stopped. Please consider this closed.
Probe shouldn’t have caused that. Its actually best to have them tied together securely unless you are actually probing. Ryan made a new router mount that holds the plate and ground together for this reason. It was probably the intermetten connection causing the issue.
