Bauer Makita CLone

I don’t think anyone was thinking we were going to be getting close to that sort of precision. It’s fun to think about it, but I also like to be sure I stay grounded in reality, and what I’m doing this for. The flip side of the discussion is that we get some crazy precise builds, all things considered.

I was curious if the HF Bauer trim router is still holding up and working well? I have the PRIMO MPCNC built but the router I bought also from HF only has a 1/4 collet and does not appear I can get it down to the 1/8 collet.

I have also been real curious about the Bauer line as well.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

So far I have had zero issues with it. Has been working very well for me. I mostly just use 1/4" collet bits but i do have a 1/8" Makita collet from Elaire that has worked fine.

And you are using it on a mpcnc right?

It started on the MPCNC, now it’s on a Shapeoko XXL.

Speaking of Shapeoko, Carbide 3D sells their own router that I’ve read in a couple places is either made by Makita or is a Makita clone. It has a longer cord than the branded router and comes with precision 1/4 and 1/8 collets. This is what I put on my MPCNC. I paid $80. I don’t have many hours on this router, so don’t know how it will hold up.

Some people have had issues with them, support takes care of it pretty quickly though. Some bearing issues have popped up lately it seems like.

bought mine at $31 clearance it fits makita brackets
